Clark’s Appliance Destroyed in Fire
BY GREG WALTERS
Clark’s Appliance in Downtown Raytown was heavily damaged by a fire around ten p.m. last Thursday night. It took three hours for the fire department to get the blaze under control.

Twenty four firefighters from various fire departments were called in to help control the blaze and keep it from spreading to adjacent businesses.

Fire investigators have ruled the fire as accidental and placed the value lost to the building at $340,000.00. Contents of the building, which received heavy damage, were not included in the estimate. Clark’s Appliance is a family owned appliance store. It has been in continuous operation since it opened its doors for business in 1957.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Raytown Unleashed has deleted the comments made by former Alderman Joe Creamer on their Facebook page. The Administrator of the page wrote: (FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE SIGNIFICANCE OF FOLLOWING MESSAGE, PLEASE READ "Paul's Rant" FIRST, WHICH FOLLOWS THIS NOTE)

"Yesterday 2 threads were deleted from this page. One at the request of the originator and the other because after I requested several times for the poster to provide organized and clear evidence for his claims, and he failed to do so. I understand from another page that this has upset a few members. Let me start by saying . . .

1. The Raytown "uncensored" page is not, in fact, uncensored. I have no ability to reply to any of the statements made there.

2. Out of the numerous pictures posted yesterday, the only issue that showed any merit might have been the private meetings. I disagree with Joe's assertion that something bad was done but his question held merit. Unfortunately, he grouped that in with so much other junk that had no support, it all had to be deleted. There are plenty of you on this page that disagree with me. There is no rule against that. I won't delete posts simply because I disagree and I never have. I will debate you and I won't necessarily do it gently. But I don't ban people or delete posts because I think they are wrong about something.

3. I'm human which means I am biased. We all are. Get over it. I have opinions and I WILL share them on this page whether you like them or not. I'm trying to clean up this page which means the name calling, the baseless accusations, the trash talk...all of it needs to go.

This page is called Raytown Unleashed because I wanted a place where the bad in our community could be posted and discussed along with the good. That did NOT mean I wanted this to turn into a junk page where people came to bitch about other people. Or to threaten them. Or to call them names. If you can't act like an adult, this isn't the page for you."

Paul’s Rant! BY PAUL LIVIUS
Raytown Unleashed
Explodes with Lively Debate
A friend of mine directed my attention to a current “discussion” on a local Facebook page “Raytown Unleashed”. This discussion, which started on December 2nd on the page, is too lengthy to publish here.

However, it is worth reading. The center of the debate appears to be Raytown’s leading political gadfly, Joe Creamer.  A number of Aldermen, former Aldermen and former city officials take part in the discussion as well.

Both Greg and I looked over the extensive amount of dialogue on the page and came to the conclusion we could not do the content justice by any other means than directing people to do a search on Facebook for Raytown Unleashed.

We will, however, publish the last comments of the lengthy debate. It does the best of summing up what was written. One thing is for certain, you will find the breadth and depth of the dialogue interesting.

POST: WOW! This thread is just about enough to make me unlike this page. How has this been allowed to even continue in this direction? I'm embarrassed for these 2 "men" who felt this was acceptable to discuss all this here. I can NOT believe I wasted my time even reading it. All I can hope for is that the entire thread be deleted, immediately after our Mayor and Chief of Police get a chance to skim over it. There are definite underlying issues here, on both sides, and it needs to be resolved elsewhere.

RESPONSE: I understand that this thread makes some members uncomfortable and I'm sorry for that. However, rules haven't been broken here. I also think it's important for the community to know when motives aren't pure. Sometimes things get dirty, but when a group of men is repeatedly slandered in a newspaper, do we really expect them to allow the community to be misled just to save face? Why are so many of us agreeing with Twila that it's good for the Post to publish these letters but then we scold the people slandered by said letters for coming out and making us all aware that there is more to this story? As uncomfortable as all this may be for everyone, what you should be coming away with is wanting answers about these "secret meetings" and if something was done wrong or if this really is just a scorned drunk that was voted out of office and now he's trying to punish the board and ruin their good names. Personally, I think it's important.

By the way, Raytown Unleashed is a “closed discussion group”. However, you ask to join via the page. Any one of the regular readers can allow you to join. So unless you have the reputation of someone like Darth Vader or Lord Valdemort, you will probably be accepted.

Well I see that Joe "crazy" Creamer now has another forum to vent his BS venom against people! Raytown Unleashed, really? Why would you let this lunatic rave on and continue his veiled threats as he has done in your blog?
Thank you Raytown report for keeping your blog an open forum but having enough responsibility to not allow people to rave on and threaten!
Joe, as has been said, if you know of something illegal then take it to the Attorney General, otherwise shut the hell up.
You are hurting our city with your nonsense

He posted a letter from the attorney general saying essentially that they aren't going to do anything about it as there wasn't any real wrongdoing as proof, and he still claims this stuff. How can anyone listen to this joke?

Plus, did you read those threats he made on Josh Greene? I'm starting to think this guy is LITERALLY crazy.

Thank you sooooo much for the newsy information about the town drunk. Please give us more.
I'm glad someone will speak up for the rest of us. Keep up the good work.

The blog portion of the website is for the free and open exchange of ideas between Raytowners.

Really?

It seems there is a growing sentiment that our community is growing tired and increasingly fed up of the shrapnel that is being thrown over the boundary walls by Joe (Otis) Creamer. It is obvious his endless rant allowed by Randy Battaglier in his local paper is nothing short of an attempt to convince people that if his lies and mistruths continue being thrown against the wall it surely will stick eventually. Well I would suggest if you see Joe or even Randy in public (since they both heartily support and endorse 1st Amendment rights) that we Ratown Citizen's tell them we are sick of them harming our community. We are sick of them dragging TV cameras into our town and being on the news with half truths and lies. We are sick of potential investors passing over Raytown thinking we are in total meltdown and our City Finances are near collapse. It is time if they are eating dinner or grocery shopping we confront them and tell them we don't appreciate their negative corruptive tactics harming our town that so many of us attempt to shape into a great community to raise families and call home. They have unfortunately earned this treatment with a continuos negative message that can longer be accepted without recourse. I do not by any means condone violence so please keep it cordial but firm. And feel free to add if they don't love it,they can certainly leave it. I'm sure a Go Fund Me Account would reach record amounts if it was earmarked for moving expenses for these 2.

THE TIME IS NIGH my friends.
Fox's Drug Store is closing the pharmacy portion of business tomorrow, December 7th. Gary Fox had merged his patient files with Raytown HyVee. Gary will be working at the Raytown HyVee pharmacy on a part time basis.

The Fox Drugstore Soda Fountain will remain open in the Fox location at the historic corner of 63rd & Raytown Road.

What an iconic ride the drugstore has had in its 77+ years. Hats off to the Fox family for their devotion to the Raytown community.

Sams [Pharmacy] closed as well, some time ago, and merged with HyVee. So far I have been pleased with it.

When a person knows and wants to expose the political corruption that occurs in Raytown PD, that person(s) are then subject to character assassination to destroy the person's credibility and reputation. Nothing new. You see it all the time within the Raytown PD.

Again Prove it !!!!!

I tend to disagree with the post Dec 7 11:26 AM concerning said person aka Joe Creamer just now getting his reputation and credibility tarnished by exposing supposed political corruption in the Raytown PD. EVERYONE knows he has done a perfectly fine job of tarnishing himself and his credibility almost on a weekly basis describing in detail to anyone that will read about his longtime reliance and dependency on drugs & alcohol while attempting to make rational and sound decisions while serving on the Board of Alderman.

Did anyone else catch the far reaching attempt by Creamer this week in his rant in the Raytown Rag attempting to legitimize the journalistic professionalism exhibited by Editor Randy Battagler. His comment that Randy will actually research something before it is published actually made the water I was drinking shoot straight thru my nostrils. I have long ago stopped counting the journalistic reporting errors I have encountered in that fictional paper. Remember folks we are talking about the guy (Randy) who was going around town telling people that former Alderman Steve Mock had died some 8 hours prior to his actually passing... And his source?? Seems Randy had seen it on Facebook that morning... I Rest My Case Your Honor.

Instead of reporting the news Randy makes it by gossip and false accusations. He never quotes any aldermen or city staff with interviews or as sources. I wonder if he even calls any of them to ask questions.

Th best journalist that this town had seen in quite some time was Brooking Eagle's Kris Collins. He would be at just about any work session, Parks Board meetings, city events, you name it he was there. Randy... Rarely in attendance.
Hey that's a great new nickname. Randy Rarely...

I found out about the Raytown Unleashed a couple of days ago. Did anyone know there is a Kid's Coat drive going on? Today is the last day. It seems people can drop off gently used children’s coats to Dick Smith Ford. Pride Cleaners will clean the coats and make them ready for the children. A huge Thank You to both local businesses for making Christmas a little better. An even bigger Thank you to those organizing the coat drive. It takes a lot of time and a lot of work to make something like this happen.

I for one am hoping the "Randy and Joe" show stay around for a long time.
What else would be here to read? Looks like it's the most newsworthy topic in town.... or at least on this blog.
