I know back in the 80's it cost around $70 an hour to contract lawn care companies to plow. 20+ years later, no telling how much it costs for contractors.

For city streets people are pulled from various departments. They still have their regular job to do, so a lot of plowing is overtime. Not to mention that plowing is very hard on trucks.

And once again, KC is not the model to live up to. I have lived most of my life in the KC area and KC has never done a competent job of clearing streets.

But, OTOH in the small town where my other house is, they plowed my street (curb to curb) several times over the holiday. And treated it with salt/sand as well. The difference is that the town is built on hills and the citizens have made it clear that they consider plowing and treating streets a necessary service.

And in Raytown, my street doesn't even have curbs.... :-)Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02341341227725640999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3767127531333372490.post-62915107433307533152009-12-27T11:52:35.202-06:002009-12-27T11:52:35.202-06:00I think the public works dept. did a really outsta...I think the public works dept. did a really outstanding job.
