A Lesson Given BY GREG WALTERS AND PAUL LIVIUS
Two weeks ago interim Raytown City
Administrator Mark Loughry tendered his resignation.
His resignation came almost immediately
after the Raytown Board of Aldermen loosened rules requiring the person serving
as City Administrator reside within the corporate limits of City of Raytown.
Loughry has been hired as an
Administrator in Leavenworth County. According to Loughry, the move is a
lateral move, with compensation and responsibility being equal to those
requirements in Raytown.
It is also important to note Loughry
went to great lengths to say he was encouraged by the progress achieved in
Raytown. He gave much of the credit to the hard work of the Board of Aldermen.
Unlike his predecessor, Mr. Loughry was
leaving the city under amiable conditions. Many people believed, some even
anticipated, that Loughry would soon be named to the post, once he shed the “interim”
tag before his title at City Administrator.
In a letter to the Board of Aldermen
Loughry wrote he was making the move to spend more time with his family.
No one can fault him for that.
It is interesting to note that Loughry’s
home is located in Basehor, Kansas, which is located in Leavenworth County. Basehor
is over a one hour daily commute to and from Raytown.
IS ANYONE LISTENING?
So here is the situation. Raytown has a
lost a City Administrator who worked well with city officials. Progress was
being made under his watch. The only part of the equation not working was he
did not live here. Ultimately, his reason for leaving was a desire to spend
more time with his family.
If ever there was a strong argument for
the need of a City Administrator to live within the community, Mr. Loughry has
given it.
For the formula to work properly . . . good
working relations with elected officials = progress . . . the missing component
is an Administrator who wants to put down roots and make Raytown their home.
The Board of Aldermen will now go about
the task of searching for a replacement to fill the city’s top administrative
post.
Let’s hope they see the importance of finding a person who will move to Raytown and become part of OUR community.

The comment about Mahesh Sharma requiring people to go through the Freedom of Information Act to get in public information is interesting. I suggest you call the Attorney General's office and tell them your story. If that same protocol is begin used in Raytown today improper and possibly illegal.
As for Sharma. Now you know why everyone loved and admired him soooooo much!
"This is need to know"
"And you don't need to know"
These people do not give a DAMN about this community just their own ambitions and to attack people who disagree. We already have the sterotype of being the stepchild of the metro and these clowns are making it worse.

Last Thursday, my sister took my nephew to the Emergency Room. For years, he has always had migraine headaches, but we never thought much about it. It was discovered that he had a brain tumor at the base of his brain. He was transported to Children's Mercy, and it was removed this past Tuesday. He is resting, and doing well, but it will be a long road to recovery. A gofundme page has been set up top help them -- https://www.gofundme.com/aiypfs

Thank you Raytown report for keeping your blog an open forum but having enough responsibility to not allow people to rave on and threaten!
Joe, as has been said, if you know of something illegal then take it to the Attorney General, otherwise shut the hell up.
You are hurting our city with your nonsense
