$4.3 Million Project scheduled for Wards 1,
and 3 in Spring of '24

The City of Raytown has been awarded a $4.3 Million Dollar Grant for improvements to Raytown Road and 59th Street between Raytown Trafficway (on the east) and Hadley Street (on the west).

The project will remove an existing deteriorated storm sewer system and replace it with new pipe. Some curbing, sidewalks and ADA ramps will also be replaced. The streets will receive a 2” mill and asphalt overlay as well.

RAYTOWN'S VERSION OF OLD FAITHFUL

The picture on the right shows how inadequate the current storm sewer system is in removing storm water runoff from surrounding neighborhoods during heavy rains.

The picture shows a storm water cover raised by a backflowing of water in a storm sewer designed to move water away from the intersection.

The heavy metal storm sewer plate is restrained by heavy duty bolts. Despite the precaution, the hydraulic pressure raises the plate nearly two feet into the air!

The Raytown Trafficway / 59th intersection is heavily impacted by the deteriorating condition of the storm water pipes under the street. The project will replace the deteriorated and broken pipes under the intersection. The Raytown Water Company is also participating in the project by replacing water lines under the street.

The following map shows the streets impacted by the improvements.

The City's website says the sewer improvements will be for Wards 1 and 2. There's a meeting Wednesday, November 15 at City Hall to explain it all.

Thanks for the comment Tom. We double-checked the map that was published by the city. And you are right! The streets do touch parts of Ward 2. Undoubtedly you are an City Hall insider to know what is going to be brought to the meeting for discussion. Looking forward to how you try to spin this one.

From our point of view we are just pleased as punch these street and storm sewer problems are being addressed.

Thanks for the "heads up", looking forward to the meeting.

I am not a city insider. I am a retired computer programmer and I know how to use the internet as a tool.

Ryan are you smiling from ear to ear over those higher property assessments.

Wait!!!

You promised when you pushed for higher taxes that assessments would not go up.

What else did you promise that was never try and only an attempt to take advantage of the taxpayers of Raytown.
