Today, the posts are already starting to roll in on facebook about the inability of the city of raytown, to enforce their own rules on how late fireworks can still be shot off.

Just another black eye in the ongoing inabilities of mike mcdonnaugh and his administration at keeping ray town safe, and a place where people would want to raise their families.

This further explains why there are so many problems being reported about raytown plaza and the bars down at.

Let's keep in mind the city of Raytown enacted, a new ordinance almost 18 months ago. Directed at a bar and certain behavior would be considered a nuisance. Allowing the city to speed up the process to shut that bar down. That bar has since been shut down. But the city celebrates and looks the other way with the problems at Raytown plaza, which are far greater than what we had going on down at Gregory and 350.

It would be nice if a city would address the same type of problems in the same way. Otherwise, they are exposing the city to lawsuits of discrimination by the owners of one bar over the way they are allowing behavior at a another bar to continue.

At the end of the day, it's us.The taxpayers that are on the hook for the incompetency of the flunkies, the city keeps hiring.

The following comment was originally published on Raytown Unleashed Alternative

If you live out by 75th and Woodson and were home yesterday and last night yu were treated to what closely resembled a professional fireworks display by the large group assembled at Kreister Park tht ran till what several nearby neighbors told me last until 2 am.

The problem is all Raytown Parks have posted NO Fireworks. Bit has been an ongoing annual occurrence and the Parks folks go about cleaning up the next day. Well today was Sunday so I knew they wouldn't be in until Monday. the massive amount of debris coupled with winds we got ghem again meant this debris would be scattered all over the greass abnd eventually the neighbors surrounding the park.
there were 12/14 large craters fromm the 1/2 and full sticks of essentially 11w grade dynamite in the outfield and and hundreds of the plastic mortar shells there as well. I cleaned up as much as I could but but it will take professional equipment tomorrow to clean up the baseball infield.

Dissappointing when you notify someone that has a direct "hotline" to PD that could have shut this down before it elevated to the trashy and destructive vandalism shown here.

Interesting comment Steve. We had the same event kick off at Colman Park shortly after 2 a.m. Someone must have called the police because it was not long before three police cars arrived with sirens and lights blaring which caused a rapid (and reckless) departure from the park by the scofflaws.

I am guessing that between the two large scale violations there was not a ticket issued. Just chase them away! Which means they probably went to another park to continue their mayhem.

I was talking to a friend of mine who used to live in Overland Park. He told me that the police AND the fire department patrol specifically on the 4th of July to keep people from breaking the law.

Raytown is only ten square miles. That small of an area should be easy to enforce our laws in. But it remains to be said that enforcement means confiscating illegal fireworks, such as the ones you described.

where is park security that the city pays for?

How much money are we the people going to have to pay for the mayor removing an Alderman last year.

Is it going to cost more the long his mistakes go on and why does the man not just own up he broke the law.

Patrolling the streets isn't in the budget. Sitting in fromt of walmart is.

To our Readers: I asked Truth Watch to come over and help me figure out why comments were not showing on the Raytown Report. It took him about five minutes to fix what I had agonized over this afternoon when readers started contacting me and asking why their posts were not being published.

Many apolgies. Please, keep those cards and letters flowing in. What you have to say is important.

Many apologies!
