Common sense has prevailed.
How about let's all make a commitment today to support and engage with EVERY candidate that prevailed in yesterday's election. ???
I certainly didn't vote for the incumbent mayor and had valid reasons in my support of anyone other than that individual. But I challenged myself this morning to support him.
We can all continue to voice our opinions. But instead of continuously, vigorously working against some of these officeholders, why don't we find something to admire about each one of them and join with them to fix the MESS that this City is in?
I have no doubt that my plea will fall upon deaf ears over on those trash Facebook pages. Continual, malicious behavior benefits no one. It's doubtful that the majority of that handful of troublemakers are even capable of participating in solutions because they either refuse to familiarize themselves with the issues, OR, in a couple cases, are altogether incapable of doing so because they're simply so laser-focused on destroying other people.
We extend our sympathies to those people that, in childhood, felt neglected, disregarded or experienced abuse. But steadily attempting to exert a modicum of control online via continuous bullying and the blatant abuse of people that you've never even met will not resolve your issues. It becomes a feedback loop where birds of a feather continuously feed off of each other.
And you never really feel better afterwards, do you?

I heard rumors of this report and I asked Mike himself before voting and he told me it was all a lie. I wish I knew this before I voted, it would have changed my vote. How can a guy under investigation get a watch and full retirement and still communicate regularly with people and there is no punishment?!

8:34 AM, while I agree with most of your points, everyone we've elected to office needs to adhere to a more rigid code of conduct, which needs to be defined, agreed upon and stringently enforced. No more barnyard antics.

Definitely agree. I have a feeling that a couple of the alderman that were recently elected are going to be this administration's worst nightmare. Big aspirations and high standards...from here on out.
I have heard several comment that the piece in the KC Star is old news and was already in the news years ago. Funny that everyone I have talked with doesn't recall hearing anything about until now.
I should mention that those who are upset about this becoming public information are the same ones that always defend the police, which really doesn't justify their position.
If they feel it is all old new and not that big of a deal maybe the new board of alderman needs to release the full report to the public.
I think that is the only way to bring an end to this or will like in the national political seen will we still have those that don't believe facts.
It wasn't released before, in fact the MO AG had to demand it's release after it was held up over a month.
Then, the Mayor, Susan and Brandy all said it was a fake document that didn't really say anything. Now all of a sudden it's old news? I wonder what else will trickle out when the audit gets released.

To not have the City/Mayor get in front of this story relating to what appeared to be an ongoing and accepted pattern of behavior in the Police department is once again shunning public trust and transparency. I personally spoke to a current Alderman and I fully trust that they had no idea of this particular situation. I understand some of this was sensitive and needed to be carefully maneuvered around, but to not have a carefully legally approved statement formulated to notify Raytown Citizens that this culture and behavior is not an acceptable standard once again does nothing to bridge the ongoing trust issue that is deeply seeded in Raytown. True leaders surface and face the firing squad when necessary. Others just resign!
